Arthur Ollek

Arthur Wilhelm Ollek, 87, formerly of Buhler, died March 16, 2003, at Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson.

Born Nov. 14, 1915, in Goessel, he was the son of Edward and Marie Schultz Ollek.

He graduated from Lehigh High School and served in the U.S. Army for 41 months with two years of his time in the South Pacific.

On Feb. 12, 1941, he married Wilma (Billie) Meier at Hillsboro. She survives.

He worked as a parts manager for Rankin Equipment in McPherson and Shoffner Motors in Caldwell.

He and his wife owned and operated the White Swan Café in McPherson and the Crusader Café in Buhler.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2715 in McPherson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rienhold, Albert, Emil, Richard, and August; sisters, Martha Spremberg, Bertha Steinle, and Amelia Middendorf.

Survivors include sons, Ed and wife Resa of Edgewater, Md., and Jim and wife Julie of Buhler; daughters, Brenda Schafer of Hutchinson; and Virginia and husband Brad Potter of Buhler; brother, Adolph and wife Laura of McPherson; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with Rev. Tom Mendenhall presiding. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Memorials have been established with Hospice of Reno County, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Hour, or Good Samaritan Nursing Home, in c/o Buhler Mortuary, 120 N. Main St., Buhler, KS 67522.
