Be a volunteer
he Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce needs your help.
Next week, you have the opportunity to go to the Kansas State Fair free of charge. You'll get a neat little hanging tag to put on your car, which qualifies you for the best parking spot in town.
All you have to do is spend a few hours talking about something you know plenty about: Hillsboro.
As of Wednesday morning, seven more volunteers were still needed to help man the Hillsboro booth at the state fair, which begins Friday.
The shifts last just four hours — not too much time to spare out of your schedule. You'll get to meet plenty of interesting people, and you'll help get the word out about what a great place you live in.
And you won't be stuck in the middle of some monstrous commercial building — no, your booth will be nice and airy, right next to a breezy doorway. A prime location.
You'll be in good company too — at last year's fair, the Goessel booth was right across the aisle, and Marion's was in the next row over.
But aside from all the perks — and the proximity to the world's best funnel cakes and corn dogs — you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're helping your community.
Go ahead. Volunteer.
