Becker to speak this week at combined Renewal Services
Dr. Palmer Becker, director and professor of pastoral ministries at Hesston College, will be the speaker at the combined Trinity Mennonite and First Mennonite Renewal Services.
The three-part series, which begins with the theme "Choose Life," begins at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Mennonite Church, 211 S. Elm. The second service, "Choose Community," is at 7 p.m. Sunday and the third, "Choose Service," is at 7 p.m. Monday, both at First Mennonite Church, 102 S. Ash.
Becker has served in Taiwan and been pastor of congregations in Oklahoma, British Columbia, Minnesota, and Oregon. He was executive secretary of home ministries for the General Conference Mennonite Church and has developed and published congregational resources for gift discernment, goals discovery, small groups, peace education, evangelism, and membership preparation.
His training includes degrees from Freeman Junior College, Goshen College, Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, and Fuller Theological Seminary. He is married to Arlys Preheim and they have four children and three grandchildren.
