Benefit meal to be held at Bethesda Home

Goessel Lions Club and Bethesda Home will co-sponsor a benefit meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Goessel Elementary School, 500 E. Main in Goessel. The benefit meal of barbecue brisket sandwiches, baked beans, pasta salad, and homemade pies or cookies will be served in the gymnasium.

"Although the current membership of the Goessel Lions Club totals only nine, the members are always eager to partner with Bethesda Home to co-sponsor this type of community event," said Lion Wilbert Schmidt. "The Lions Club members believe in the mission of Bethesda Home and are again pleased to support projects that not only benefit Bethesda residents but everyone in the community."

Donations will be accepted at the meal to support the Bethesda / Lions Club projects of purchasing a Recumbent Cross Trainer (for strengthening upper and lower body muscles with minimal impact on the joints like hips, knees and shoulders) and a Sit-to-Stand Lift to assist residents from a sitting position to a standing position.

"Plans are to develop a schedule where community members are also able to use the Cross Trainer for physical workouts in Bethesda's fitness center as we strive to meet the needs of both our residents and the community members," said Pete Flaming, director of development.

Donations are to be made payable to Bethesda Home.
