Bernice Duerksen
H. Bernice Duerksen, 87, Inman, died April 29, 2008.
Born Sept. 8, 1920, at Goessel, she was the daughter of Henry and Elisabeth (Schroeder) Unrau.
She graduated from Goessel High School and was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Mennonite churches at Lehigh and Goessel.
On Sept. 8, 1943, she married Mildor Duerksen at Goessel. He died in 2005.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Clarence Unrau; and two sisters, Edna Schmidt and Sylvia Flaming.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Duerksen of Indianapolis, Ind., Merle Duerksen of Dacona, Colo., John Duerksen of McPherson, and Brian Duerksen of Pine Valley, Calif.; brother, Gladwin Unrau of Punta Gorda, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at First Mennonite Church, McPherson, with Pastor Kathy Neufeld Dunn officiating.
Burial was in Lehigh Mennonite Cemetery, Lehigh.
Memorial funds have been established with the First Mennonite Church, McPherson, or Mennonite Central Committee.
