It was a slippery day outside the gym with six inches of new snow, but the basketball game inside the gym was a close contest in the showdown between Bethel and Tabor, two teams with very similar records.

The lead changed hands 13 times and the scores were tied seven times. Bethel took its largest lead in the first half at 15-8, but the Bluejays tied the game at 26-26 and took a one-point lead at halftime, 36-35.

With less than six minutes to play and the score 64-64, the Threshers went on a 9-0 run. Moments later, Bethel again scored five straight points to put the game out of reach. The Bluejays lost by a final score of 80-69.

Bethel was led in scoring by Goessel grad Kent Peters with 16 points and Hillsboro grad Tyler Peachey with 14.

The Bluejays finish the week with a 4-6 KCAC record and a 6-13 overall record.
