Bill Dee Clarkson

Bill Dee Clarkson, 52, of Walnut, died March 31, 2003, at Freeman Health Systems in Joplin, Mo.

Born June 18, 1950, in El Dorado, he was the son of Albert Lee and Ida M. (Wilhite) Clarkson. He graduated from Midway Altoona High School in 1969. He earned a master's degree in ag education from Kansas State University in 1973 and a bachelor of arts degree from Pittsburg State University in 1979.

On Dec. 18, 1976, he married Bonnie Schmidt in Goessel. She survives.

He owned and operated his own farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Brenda Clarkson of Pittsburg and Bobby Clarkson of Walnut; brothers, Glenn Clarkson of Ark City, John Clarkson and Raymond Clarkson both of Pittsburg; and sisters, Dorothy Monen of Chapman and Barbara Burke of Chanute.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. April 4, 2003, at Evangelical Covenant Church in rural Savonburg, led by Rev. Jack Kyle and Charles Martin. Visitation will be tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary in Chanute. Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery in Buffalo.

The family suggests contributions to the Brenda and Bobby Clarkson educational fund in care of the mortuary.
