After a week of intermittent practices and postponed games due to the weather, the Goessel High School boys' basketball team finally got a chance Tuesday to play another game.

However, a slow start for the fourth-ranked 1A Bluebirds doomed them at Hutchinson.

The Celtics from Hutch Trinity dominated the first quarter and finished with a 53-31 victory.

Goessel suffered its first loss of the season against the 3A school, and also recorded its first loss in Heart of America League play.

Leading the way for the Bluebirds was Weston Hiebert with eight points.

Austin Unruh scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds, Travis Fensky had five points, Cameron Voth four, Nathan Ensz and Ethan Ott two, and Seth Ott one point.

The Bluebirds trailed by 15 at the end of the first quarter and could not make a dent in the deficit.

GHS is now 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
