The Goessel High School football team defeated Pretty Prairie last Friday by a score of 62-42.

"We came out intense in the third quarter," said Coach Troy Kemling. "We took the wind out of them at that point."

The two teams alternated touchdowns, with Pretty Prairie scoring first and Goessel coming back in the first quarter to score and take the lead 8-6. In between two Pretty Prairie touchdowns, Goessel scored one and trailed at half-time 20-14.

Ben Schmidt raced 57 yards for another Goessel score to tie the game at 20 in the third quarter.

"Schmidt made some good decisions on the option play" Kemling said. "Pretty Prairie seemed to key on Aaron Stehman's running game."

Goessel scored two more times in the third quarter to only one Bulldog touchdown to take a third quarter lead 32-28.

Pretty Prairie regained the lead one more time in the fourth quarter, 36-32, but Goessel crossed the goal line four times in the final frame and finished the game outscoring the Bulldogs 30-6.

"Our fans made themselves known . . . especially when the game was tight," said a beaming Kemling.

Schmidt ended the night with five TD's, Stehman with two, Dylan Buller and Tyler Huntley scored one each.
