Bluebirds destroy Jaguars

For its second victory in as many games, Goessel High School football team came away Friday with a 52-12 thumping of Hartford.
"Our defense was pretty good. except for three plays," coach Justin Coup said after victory.
Goessel took over on fourth down with seven minutes, 48 seconds left in the first quarter, and Dustin Peterson crossed the goal line for the Bluebirds from seven yards out for the first score in the contest.
Cameron Stultz chased down a break away runner to save a touchdown, and Hartford fumbled on their next play, handing the Bluebirds the ball on their own four-yard line.
Austin Unruh connected with Weston Hiebert on a pass play that went 76 yards for another Bluebird score.
Kendall Voth caught an Unruh pass for the two-point conversion, and the Bluebirds led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Travis Fensky gained 35 yards on a run that set up the next touchdown on a pass from Unruh to Fensky.
Craig Banman scored the two-pointer, making the score 22-0.
Hartford connected on a 24-yard pass play to get on the scoreboard, but the Bluebirds put eight more points on the board 16 seconds later with a 48-yard run by Unruh, who again connected with Banman for the extra points.
Hartford scored for the last time in the game with 2:49 left in the second quarter.
Banman then ran the ensuing kickoff 65 yards, tip-toeing down the right sideline for a touchdown, and Peterson took a pitch into the end zone for the extra points.
The Bluebirds led at halftime 38-12.
Kendall Voth caught an Unruh pass for a score, and Fensky ran in the extra points half way through the third period.
Nathan Walker, Kurtis Duerksen, Grady Stultz and Cameron Stultz were in on many tackles as the defense consistently held Hartford out of the end zone.
Fensky scored from one yard out with seven minutes to play.
Substitutes for both teams finished the game as the Bluebirds notched their second victory with a final score of 52-12.
Fensky led the ground attack with 65 yards and the score, while Banman added 38 yards on the ground, Peterson 27, and Unruh 25.
Through the air, Unruh was 7-15 for 146 yards and three scores.
Hiebert (97 yards), Voth (34), and Fensky (9), led the air attack.
The Bluebirds play at Friday at home against Wichita Trinity.
