Bluebirds earn 13th win years ago

The Goessel boys remained undefeated in seven games at home by defeating Canton-Galva on Tuesday 62-43.
In the first 30 minutes of play, all the scoring came from Goessel's five seniors on their final regular-season game at home.
Jesse Goertzen scored 12 of Goessel's first 14 points with four three-pointers.
The Bluebirds broke out to an 11-point lead in the second quarter and led 28-20 at halftime.
Goessel took a commanding lead at the end of three quarters, 48-32, and then the Eagles picked up the pace getting as close as 50-37. But Jeremy Voth scored eight straight points for the Bluebirds to keep the Eagles at bay.
Scoring for the Bluebirds were Kent Peters with 17 points, J. Goertzen with 15, J. Voth with 14, Clinton Plenert with 11, Ben Schmidt with three, and Ryan Janzen with two.
Goessel finishes the league season with a 10-3 record and an overall record of 14-5.
Goessel moves into a tie for third place due to Burrton's loss on Tuesday.
The Goessel boys played two completely different halves at Pretty Prairie last Friday, winning 75-52.
During the first half, the Bluebirds allowed the Bulldogs to pass the ball to open men under the basket for easy points. Goessel led 16-15 at the first quarter and came from three points down to tie the game 27-27 at halftime.
But the Bluebirds outscored the home team 11-2 in the first part of the third quarter, and that was the boost they needed to go on to a 75-52 win.
Goessel hit 31 of 38 free throws on their way to their thirteenth win of the season.
Nine players scored for Goessel: Voth with 24 points, Plenert with 13, Goertzen with nine, Peters and Aaron Stehman with seven each, B. Schmidt with six, Justin Fensky with five, Ryan Janzen with three, and Josh Schmidt with one.
