Bluebirds end season with White City loss

The Goessel High School football team ended its season last Thursday with a 12-57 loss at White City.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter, and it appeared to be an evenly matched game. White City scored 25 points in the second quarter, and Goessel could only manage one touchdown.
The Bluebirds scored one more time in the third quarter. White City scored 18 more points, and with two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the game was called with the 45-point rule.
Dylan Buller crossed the goal line one time and rushed for 96 yards. Ben Schmidt connected with Tyler Huntley for the only pass completion of the evening which ended in a 14-yard touchdown pass.
Defensively, Ben Schmidt was involved with 11 tackles; Kelby Voth, nine; and Dylan Buller, eight. Josh Schmidt recovered a fumble to go along with six tackles, and Matt Froese ended with five tackles and two sacks.
Aaron Stehman accumulated 110 yards on kick returns, and Wayne Cooper averaged 28 yards on four punts to go along with his defensive play of one sack and a blocked kick.
This was Goessel's last game of the 2002 season, and they ended with a record of 3-6.
