Bluebirds fall to 3A Trinity

The Goessel High School girls' basketball team began Heart of America League play with a loss Tuesday to power house Hutchinson Trinity.

The Bluebirds stayed close through the first half, but the Celtics shut down the Goessel offense in the second half.

GHS trailed at the breaks 13-5, 25-19, and 49-21, before losing 57-25.

Leading the scoring for the Bluebirds was Kendra Flaming with seven points followed by Karina Harvey six, Jennifer Raymond five, Jessica Goertzen four, and Aspen Frey three.

The Celtic defense forced 28 Bluebird turnovers.

Goessel is now 1-3 for the season and 0-1 in League play.

The girls hit the court against Jan. 4 with a road game at Sedgwick.
