With the most important part of the Bluejay season in full swing, they completed the week with a pair of wins and a pair of losses.
On Saturday in Lindsborg, the Bethany Swedes made it crystal clear why they are the KCAC's top team and ranked 11th nationally, sweeping Tabor with 8-1 and 6-1 scores.
In the opener, the Swedes limited the Bluejays to one hit while picking up eight.
Tabor was still in the game closing out the top half of the sixth before Bethany broke the game open with a five-run inning and handing Andy Womack the defeat.
Saturday's finale was a splitting image of the way the year has gone for Tabor with the Bluejays unable to capitalize on numerous opportunities.
The Bluejays jumped on top of the Swedes right out of the gate, taking a 1-0 lead and Scott Wolf on the mound.
Wolf held the high powered Swede offense scoreless for four innings.
Still two innings left of baseball, though, and plenty of time for something to malfunction.
That came in the bottom of the fifth with Bethany taking control of the game with a four-run rally.
The Swedes matched the scoring entirety in the bottom of the sixth with the final two runs.
Tabor surrendered eight hits while picking up seven with Wolf charged the loss.
The Bluejays had a highlight four days earlier, racking up their fourth sweep of the season, dismantling the KCAC basement inhabitant Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes in Salina.
Tabor won the opener 7-2 before run ruling the Coyotes in the nightcap behind a season-high 15 runs.
The 16-22 (4-9 KCAC) Bluejays face two of their next three games at home starting Wednesday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Sterling.
Tabor gets a rematch with the Swedes today with action beginning at 4 p.m. before traveling Saturday to Wichita to take on the Friends Falcons.
