In years to come, Coach Karol Hunt will remember everything about the crisp, clear morning just made for running, and the picture-postcard course her team called home.

She'll never forget the day when a dozen of her cross country runners each ran the best races of their lives.

Twelve Bluejays found their wings Saturday at the Tabor College Invitational.

"Today was the best racing day in my 14-year tenure with Tabor cross country," said Tabor coach Karol Hunt. "It was our home meet which provides extra motivation, but when 12 runners set personal records, it's a great day."

Led by Sarah Fogle's fourth place finish, in a Tabor 5K cross country record setting time of 18:48, the Tabor women placed third out of 12 teams.

For the second consecutive meet, the team's top three finishers were Fogle, Shelby Miller, and Amber Weins. All of them had PRs Saturday.

The women ran really well today," Hunt said. "The six PRs are a reflection of the effort the group puts out on Monday through Friday afternoons in practice."

The Tabor men placed fourth out of 11 teams, and finished ahead of all of the other four-year colleges competing.

"That was a big confidence builder for the men and a major accomplishment," Hunt said.

Zac Rembold, Caleb Schroeder, and Dan Sigley were the top three runners for Tabor, finishing 28, 29, and 30, respectively. They also set PRs.

"These three pushed each other, especially toward the end of the race," Hunt said. "It not only helps their mental toughness, it also strengthens our team effort.

"I was happy for the men today with their team finish and the six new personal records," she added. "It's a reward for their work ethic."

Tabor competes October 7 at the Kansas Wesleyan meet at Bill Burke Park in Salina. The women will run at 12:30 p.m. and the men at 1:15 p.m.

Tabor's next home meet is the Homecoming Run, October 21.
