Bluejays open KCAC season on the road
Improved Tabor
baseball team splits
with Friends, Ottawa
The KCAC season got off to a good start for the Bluejays as Tabor picked up a much-needed pair of splits on the road.
The Bluejays traveled to Ottawa March 16 where they tumbled to the two-time defending KCAC champion Braves in the opener, 7-0, but bounced back for a 6-1 win in the finale.
Scott Wolf surrendered 10 hits in the first game for the defeat while Tabor mustered a sole hit.
Nickerson product Tyson Bauerle took to the mound in the nightcap, going the distance, firing a five-hitter for the win.
Two days later in Wichita, the Bluejays toppled the league-leading red-hot Friends Falcons in the early game, 9-4, behind a four-hitter from starter Zavien Rivers.
Layne Frick closed out the game for Tabor, picking up the save.
Highlighting the opener was a three-run blast from Brian Kimsey.
The Falcons rebounded from the first game's defeat for a 9-3 win in the nightcap against Grant Huck.
Tabor has spent some spring break in Texas taking on Texas College, Texas Wesleyan, and Southwest Assemblies of God.
The 9-11 Bluejays return home today to battle Mid-America Christian University.
