Boat regatta, fireworks set for Sunday at lake
A boat regatta has been added to the lineup of activities for the Marion County Firefighters' fund-raiser Sunday at Marion County Lake.
Prizes will be given to the best-decorated boats during the contest at dusk. A $10 entry fee per boat is being charged.

Other events include kid's games with prizes from 2 to 5 p.m., equipment display and demonstrations from 4 to 6 p.m., food served from 5 to 8 p.m., and drawings at 8 p.m.
The regatta will follow at dusk and a fireworks show at dark.
Activities will be near or at the lake hall.
Prizes for the drawing include a Henry Golden Boy .22 s/l/lr rifle, La-Z Boy recliner, and rides for children on a fire truck to start the first round of fireworks.
Donations will assist county fire departments to purchase land and develop a training facility for county firefighters.
Peabody Fire Department is this year's host.
