Bryan Kyle
Bryan Richard Kyle, 29, of Denver, Colo., died of leukemia on Nov. 27, 2002, surrounded by his family.
Born July 10, 1973, in Newton, he was the son of Richard and Joyce Kyle.
At age four, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. On June 3, 1990, he was baptized at the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
He was a 1992 graduate of Hillsboro High school and was active in football, track, choir, drama, and forensics.
He attended Tabor College and graduated in 1996, majoring in environmental biology and religion. He also participated in football and choir.
After graduatings from Tabor, he spent seven months in Nicaragua on a Mennonite Central Committee assignment.
After returning home, he studied computer science at Hutchinson Community College for one year.
He moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed in computer services at Oppenheimer Funds.
In Denver he participated in the ministries of DOOR and Garden Park Church.
He met his future wife, Sharon, in Denver, and the couple was married Sept. 15, 2001.
In February 2002, he was diagnosed with leukemia. In June, he and his wife moved to Seattle, Wash., where he received a bone marrow transplant. Despite efforts from doctors, the disease progressed. The couple returned to Denver in early November.
Survivors include his parents; his wife; his brother, Brent Kyle of New Haven, Conn.; his grandmother, Sue Kinkel of Phoenix, Ariz.; and other family members.
A memorial service was held Nov. 30, 2002, at Garden Park Mennonite Brethren Church.
Memorials have been established with DOOR and Garden Park Church in Denver, Colo.
At press time, a local memorial service had been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m. in the Tabor College chapel-auditorium.
