Bud Bruce golf scramble is April 15 years ago
The Kansas Newspaper Foundation, a charitable arm of the Kansas Press Association, will hold the Bud Bruce Memorial Golf Scramble on April 15 at St. Andrews Golf Club in Overland Park. The four-person scramble is for KPA members, friends and guests.
The late Bud Bruce and his wife Marcella owned the Hillsboro Star-Journal from 1954 to 1988. He was active in the Hillsboro community, was president of Kansas Press Association in 1966, and received the association's Boyd Award for Community Service in 1976.
The Bruces were in the newspaper business from 1946 - 1988.
All proceeds from the tournament will fund programs that help strengthen Kansas newspapers and the communities they serve. The registration deadline is April 5. For more information, call the KNF office at (785) 271-5304.
