Carl McKim

Carl L. McKim, 61, of Burrton died March 6, 2003, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

Born Dec. 10, 1941, in Newton, he was the son of Ernest K. McKim and Helice Emma (Groff) McKim.

On Feb. 6, 1960, he married Elizabeth Claassen at Newton. She survives of the home.

He was the owner/operator of McKim Muffler shop in Newton for more than 30 years. He enjoyed collecting guns, shooting sporting clays, woodworking, and traveling. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Newton. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Yorktown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert McKim.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Tammie and husband Michael Goerzen of Goessel; son, Tod McKim of New York City; brother, Keith McKim of San Mateo, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Services were held March 10 at Faith Mennonite Church with Pastor Gordon Smith officiating. A private burial service was held.

A memorial fund has been established with the Cancer Center of Kansas.
