Catherine Dieker

Catherine A. Dieker, 98, Upper Arlington, Ohio, and formerly of Garnett, died Dec. 31, 2002, at First Community Village, Upper Arlington, Ohio.

Born July 24, 1904, at Westphalia, she was the daughter of Gustave and Katherine (Stevens) Weber.

On May 1, 1923, at Westphalia, she married Lawrence T. Dieker. He died in 1981.

She was a bookkeeper for the family mechanic shop business.

The family ran a garage in Westphalia and then in Tampa, where they lived from 1929 until 1955.

In 1955, the family sold the farm in Tampa, and returned to Westphalia where they farmed until 1970, when they retired. After retiring, they returned to Westphalia and moved to town. Later, they moved to Garnett. She moved to Upper Arlington, Ohio, in Sept. 1996.

She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Westphalia. She was also a former member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Tampa. She was a member of Royal Neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth Dieker and wife Arlene of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Larry Dieker and wife Marsha of Upper Arlington, Ohio; eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 3, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia with Father Jim Dieker officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Memorials have been established with St. Teresa Catholic Church or the Holy Angels Church building renovation fund.
