Church building, relationships to be 60+ topic years ago

Jon Wiebe, president of Mennonite Brethren Foundation, Hillsboro, will present "They Seek a House of Prayer" at the 60+ Learning in Retirement Program at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 at Wohlgemuth Music Education Center, Tabor College.

Wiebe will share stories and photos from his personal relationships with Slavs, Ethiopians, and Koreans who have built churches in the United States.

"Immigrant groups today have a burning desire to have their own place of worship to expand their ministry to their people group," Wiebe said.

Wiebe graduated from Tabor College in 1986. He received his master's in business administration in finance from the University of Denver. In 1996, Wiebe joined the Mennonite Brethren staff and has served as president and CEO of Mennonite Brethren Foundation and MB Loan Fund since 1998.

He was named the Tabor College Young Alumni Medallion recipient in 2001. The award is given based on the recipient's success in his or her chosen field and service to humanity as well as the church.

Older adults are invited to attend. Enrollment is $15 per person a semester, $28 per couple or $4 a session. In an effort to encourage participation, first-time visitors will be admitted free of charge. Registration and discount lunch cards will be available at the door.
