Church is total loss
State Farm Insurance Company has declared Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church facility a total loss.
Fire destroyed the three-building facility March 7. Following an inspection by the state fire marshal and insurance officials, the official cause of the fire has been undetermined.
The church's insurance company inspected the remaining structures for soundness and to determine the amount of loss.
"From this point forward, decisions will be made by State Farm when cleanup is going to proceed," said Pastor Bruce Porter. "Other decisions will need to be made about building and relocation."
The church council meets every Thursday, said Porter and will continue to discuss the options.
Announcements will be made to the congregation as decisions are made, added Porter.
