Church plans new construction

For the past two years, Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church has been a "church without walls."

The downtown landmark burned two years ago, March 7, 2004, in a massive fire that consumed the entire church campus.

Since that time, services have been held at Hillsboro High School gymnasium.

According to Pastor Bruce Porter, a groundbreaking ceremony is being planned for April 23, a week after Easter, at the site of the new church in Prairie Pointe addition, just west of Jade Road, east of Hillsboro. Construction would begin soon after with completion anticipated within a year.
