Citation issued at intersection by Peabody preschool
Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman noted this week that a driver was ticketed in the new school speed zone at Third and Sycamore streets. The citation listed a speed of 28 miles per hour in the 15 mile per hour zone.
"Drivers need to remember the speed limit has been lowered approaching that intersection from each direction," said Pohlman. "We don't want to have to issue tickets, but we sure will. There are too many kids using that intersection and drivers just have to slow down."
Clint Naquin of Grand Island, Neb., was arrested Saturday for driving while his license was suspended. Naquin was initially stopped for speeding on U.S.-50.
Police received a report of theft of anhydrous ammonia from Mid-Kansas Co-op in Peabody. The theft apparently took place sometime between Jan. 3-11.
Two hit-and-run accidents were reported. One took place Saturday at Peabody-Burns High School parking lot following a funeral held at the school. The second happened sometime Saturday in the parking lot of Food Mart at 9th and Walnut streets. The second incident was not noticed or reported until Sunday.
Information on either incident can be reported 983-2133."
