City Council approves water tower change order
At the Goessel City Council monthly meeting Feb. 20, Arlen Goertzen reported on change orders he had received from the engineer for the water tower.
One was a change in the PVC pipe to a thick, more durable pipe that would increase the cost by $300. The second change dealt with the word "Bluebirds" being painted on the tower, which would add $2,500 to the cost of the project.
The consensus of the council was that the city would not be willing to pay the extra $2,500. The council approved 5-0 the change order for the thicker PVC pipe.
The council approved 5-0 the purchase of a 1998 Lindpride 10 ft. wing mower for $4,250 from Pankratz Implements of Hutchinsson.
Deby Jay attended the meeting to request a privacy fence be erected on the property line between her property and a parking lot. Jay would be willing to pay half the cost of the fence. The matter was tabled.
Other items approved included:
— The council voted 5-0 to raise the basic fee for a building permit from $5 to $10.
— The council voted to appoint Dwight Voth to the Goessel Housing Authority Board to replace Karl Brubaker. Racquel Thiesen was approved by the council to replace Richard Drake on the Marion County Economic Development Council.
— A five-year franchise agreement with Moundridge Telephone Company was approved 5-0.
