City council hears business may relocate to Florence
Florence City Council members were pleased Monday night to hear a new business is interested in locating in Florence.
Sarah Cope, economic development chairman, reported representatives of an Olathe company had been in Florence this past week to look at the possibility of expanding their business away from the Kansas City area. Both Cope and councilman Bryan Harper had visited with the representatives.
Cope told council of the information and incentives she was packaging to present to the company at a future meeting.
Council also approved changes to the city's mobile home ordinance. New regulations prohibit moving a mobile home into or within the city limits if it is more than 10 years old. A mobile home of appropriate age may only be moved to a lot which already houses an occupied mobile home.
Later in the meeting, council unanimously denied a citizen request to move a trailer owned by the Christian church to another property in the city limits and convert it to a garage and storage area. The age of the trailer precludes its use according to new mobile home regulations and the property does not meet resolution requirements.
Following an executive session at the end of the meeting, council members unanimously agreed to hire Janet Robinson to work 24 hours a week at the city office at an hourly wage of $8. Councilman Ed Robinson abstained from the vote.
Janet Robinson will fill the position vacated recently by Cindy Dallke.
