City council hears HCMC's projected five-year budget

Mike Ryan, chief executive officer of Hillsboro Community Medical Center, Tuesday presented Hillsboro City Council members with the hospital's five-year capital equipment budget. The budget projects spending $883,500 for equipment and renovation in 2005.

The most costly item is $500,000 for renovations to make the hospital entrance handicap accessible. Another $300,000 is projected to replace the CT scanner which was purchased in 1986.

Ryan also reported the hospital has received $230,000 in tax credits, leaving $120,000.

Mayor Delores Dalke encouraged council members to take advantage of the state income tax credit and help the hospital at the same time.

Route 56 Classic Car Cruisers Club, represented by Police Chief Dan Kinning, presented the council with $250 to be used for park improvement.

"We raised money during the car show at Hillsboro Family Festival," Kinning said. "Members of the car club come from all areas of the county. We like to help where we can."

"We appreciate donations," Dalke said. "We want to thank the car club. The city gets projects done through volunteerism and donations."

City clerk Jan Meisinger presented a copy of an authorization to draft customers' checking or savings accounts to pay utility bills.

"We've had many requests for this," said Dalke.

Meisinger will be sending notices to customers about the new service. Those interested will have to sign an authorization.

The council approved $3,457.95 for the final engineering fee for the Main Street project from north of First Street to south of Third Street.
