City votes to rename old AMPI building

Hillsboro City Council Member Len Coryea crossed one of his to-dos off the list this past Tuesday, after convincing the council to change the name of the city-owned facility known to locals as "the Old AMPI Building."

His suggestion to rename the facility on North Ash Street (formerly owned by the Associated Milk Producers, Inc.) The Hillsboro Business Development Complex was passed unanimously.

Coryea said the new name will sound more professional when recruiting prospective businesses to Hillsboro.

The council asked city administrator Steve Garrett to come up with design sketches for new signs and suggestions as to where to put them so passers-by will be aware of the facility while driving through town.
