City-wide survey seeks your input

The City of Hillsboro wants to know what you're thinking.

And to find out, they're sending a community-wide survey to every house in town.

Beginning today and going through the middle of next week, surveys developed by the Hillsboro Planning and Zoning Commission will be distributed to households within the city limits.

Some surveys will also go to houses just outside the city limits, according to City Administrator Steve Garrett.

The survey has been in the works for several months as the planning board fine-tuned the questions.

Surveys will be both mailed and distributed door-to-door, Garrett said.

The survey is five pages long, covering both front and back of the first two pages. Questions cover a broad range of topics, from city services, education, and health care to shopping in Hillsboro.

Surveys should be returned to City Hall, either by mail or the drop box, by Friday, Oct. 11, Garrett said.

Participation in the survey is completely voluntary, and residents aren't required to answer every question if they don't want to. Residents also don't have to give their names and addresses.

The surveys will then be analyzed by the Earles and Riggs engineer firm of Salina. The results will be presented to the Planning and Zoning board at its next meeting on Thursday, Oct. 31.
