Clarence V. Lorenz

Clarence Victor Lorenz, 93, of Hillsboro died Aug. 2, 2002, at Hillsboro Community Medical Center in Hillsboro.

Born Dec. 21, 1908, in rural Durham, he was the son of Ezra and Katie (Kaiser) Lorenz. He was baptized on April 19, 1914, by Rev. John Strohecker and confirmed on May 24, 1925, by Rev. Paul Szidat in the German Congregational Church west of Durham. He joined the Church of God in Durham and became a member of the First United Mennonite Church in 1975.

On Jan. 25, 1929, he married Esther Evelyn Rauh from Okeene, Okla. She died on June 10, 1974. He farmed in rural Durham until his retirement. They moved to Hillsboro in 1956.

On Sept. 4, 1975, he married Rubena Mueller. They moved to Parkside Homes on June 24, 2002.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Marjorie and Marvin Rediker; granddaughter, Sharon and James Hand of Wichita; grandson, Randolph and Jackie Rediker of Cody, Wyo.; stepchildren, Russell and Virgie Mueller, Sondra and John Storm, and Mayre and Del Schrader; sister, Vernedda Klein; four great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 6 at First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro with Pastor Curtis Wiens officiating. Burial was at Durham Park Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.

The organist was Shirley Baltzer. Casket bearers were Jeff Hand, R.D. Rediker, Floyd Miller, Ivan Wiebert, Cindy Hand, Travis Rediker, and Dean Ollenburger.

A memorial has been established with Marion County Home Care Services.
