Clayton D. Guhr
Clayton Dean Guhr, 59, of Versailles, Mo., died July 22, 2003, at Shelby Medical Central Health Systems in Shelby, Ohio.
Born Nov. 26, 1943, in Goessel, he was the son of Daniel and Velma Schmidt Guhr. He graduated from Goessel High School and was baptized at Tabor Mennonite Church near Newton his junior year.
On Sept. 9, 1966, he married Louise Maria (Wiesje) van Setten in Zeist, Netherlands. She survives.
He was a farmer and a truck driver. He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church near Versailles, served 1-W service in Beatrice, Neb., worked as a meat canner in the MCC, and was instrumental in the formation of the Mid-Mo MCC Relief Auction in Versailles, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marlin Guhr; and sister, Delia Duerksen.
Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Eric Daniel Guhr of Versailles, Mo., Marcel Dean Guhr of Barnett, Mo., and Alexander Gitsbertus Guhr and wife Lisa of Lee's Summit, Mo.; daughter, Sylvia Margo McMillin and husband James Veldon of Lincoln, Mo.; two granddaughters; brother, Rena Guhr and wife Connie of Newton; sisters, Elfrieda Schmidt and husband Linford of Omaha, Neb., and Wilma Copeland and husband Carroll of Fairfield, Iowa; brother-in-law, Pete Duerksen of Lindsborg; sister-in-law, Paula Guhr of Newton.
Services were held July 28 at Tabor Mennonite Church near Newton with Pastor John Gaeddert and associate pastor Karen Andres officiating. Burial was at Tabor Mennonite Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Dale, Steve, and Jason Guhr, Rodney and Wesley Schmidt, and Jason Boller.
