Communities gear up for arts and crafts fairs

Tens of thousands of people will descend Sept. 15 on downtown Hillsboro for the 38th annual Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair.

According to Christy Wulf of the Arts and Crafts Fair Association, up to 400 artists and craftsmen from across the country will show and sell their wares from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year's show will feature nearly 100 new exhibitors.

Exhibits include original paintings, hand-crafted furniture, mouth-blown glass, metal etchings, appliqued clothing, dried floral arrangements, and 30-foot metal palm trees.

German food also will be featured. It will include zwiebach, bierock, and new year cookies.

Public parking with a shuttle service will be available at Marion County Fairgrounds.
