As everyone knows, it has been hot and dry for weeks and the crops are really suffering and the pastures are getting very dry. Some farmers are having to haul water for the cattle. But as the clouds come, we all keep hoping maybe pretty soon.

Going to the home of Warren and Jane Unruh on Sunday for dinner were Harry and Lela Wedel, Mitch and Carol Unruh, Marcel and Wendy Unruh, Jeff and Monica Ratzlaff, Carol Unruh, and Keith and Marietta Yost and Vanessa from Nebraska. This was the first time that Harry and Lela got to see their new great-granddaughter, Vanessa.

Last weekend, Clayton and Betty Wiebe spent a little time on vacation and visiting friends in Rochester, Minn. They then went to visit Clayton's sister in Almena, Wisc. They came back on Tuesday. There it was nice and cool, and things were quite green.

Enjoying Sunday dinner in the Richard Wiebe home were Clayton and Betty Wiebe and Ransom and Lillian Wiebe.

Mark and Barb Unruh returned home Sunday evening after spending a week on vacation. They went to Filer and Buhl, Idaho, to visit Barb's family and then spent some time sightseeing at Yellow Stone Park and the Black Hills in South Dakota.

This community was shocked and saddened Monday afternoon by the unexpected death of a lifetime resident, Harry Decker, who was killed in a tractor accident.

At age 97, he was still very active in church, the community, family events and other activities. He will be greatly missed. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to Verna and the rest of the Decker family.
