Cottonwood Falls team wins HCMC golf classic

The sixth annual Hillsboro Community Medical Center Charity Golf Classic was held Aug. 11 at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course.

A team from Cottonwood Falls won the tournament with a score of 56. Team members were Russ Mildward, Ed Linhard, Tom Roble, and Cecil Lane. Second place in the championship flight went to the Coonrod & Associates team of Ray Penner, Ben Wolfington, Brennan Stubers, and John Dalke. Third place in the championship flight went to the team of Ric and Ken Johnson and Bruce and Pat Bartel from Hillsboro.

In the first flight, first place went to Tom Falkner, Traey Falkner, Tony Kruse, and Kary Nye with a score of 63. Second place went to a team from Tabor College. Team members were Clint Seibel, Herb Wiebe, Steve Berg, and Lawrence Ressler. Third place in the flight was a team from Sonic Drive-In. Members were Trent, Gary, Jason, and Larry Elmquist.

Winners of the second flight were Layne Reusser, Steve Brodie, Mark Schulte, and Troy Jordan. Second place went to Carl and Jane Long and Larry and Judy Klein. Third place went to the team representing Cooperative Grain & Supply and Countryside Feed. Team members were Lyman Adams, Steve Hornbuckle, Kyle Cederberg, and DeLayne Herbel.

Nineteen teams participated in the four-man scramble. Proceeds go toward the purchase of a new backup generator for HCMC.
