Cottonwood Grove graduates five students

It was a beautiful spring day on Saturday, and a large crowd attended the estate farm sale of Paul D. Unruh. It was an interesting sale as there were a lot of small-sale tractors he had made and toy tractors he had collected. There were also some trains he had made and other farm items.
Our sympathy is extended to Harry and Verna Decker as Verna's son Orville Thiesen from Sydney, Mont., passed away quite suddenly on Saturday. He was 72 years old. Harry and Verna left on Monday for Montana by plane.
The Cottonwood Grove School had their play day and school picnic late Saturday afternoon for the children, parents, and friends. This concludes the school year. The eighth-grade graduates were Carlos Rivera, Karlyn Wiebe, Susie Unruh, Trina Hiebert, and Andrea Hiebert.
The Central Heights Church will have a fellowship meal on Sunday following the worship service. Then at 1 p.m. there will be a short memorial service at the church. Everyone is welcome.
Saturday morning, Orville and Delores Richert went to Abbeville to see their grandson, Layne Richert, who played the part of Uncle Sam in the rodeo parade. That afternoon they went to Lindsborg for the reception for Kathy Jenson at the senior center. That evening was the graduation service for Smoky Valley High School, where Kathy was a member of the class of 2002.
Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went to visit Esther Unruh, Alice Unruh, and Lillian's uncle, Roy Becker, at Moundridge Manor.
Jerald and Rhonda Koehn invited Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Greg and Charlene Wedel, Mitch and Carol Unruh, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe, and the Justin Koehns of Galva to be their Sunday dinner guests.
Ron and Dora Unruh attended the 50th anniversary celebration of her brother, Milton, and Alice Duerksen at the Alexanderwohl Church. It was an open house and program. Also there from Durham were Warren and Anita Unruh and Kyle and Mark Unruh.
The City of Durham Library invites children in the surrounding area to the "Join the Winner's Circle" program beginning June 5 and ending July 17 on Wednesdays from 10 to 11:20 a.m. There will be a fun time, snacks, and time for checking out books. Come for enrichment.
The Dan Thiessen and Jake Thiessen families got together at the Hesston park on Sunday for a basket dinner. There was much visiting as the cousins had not been together for a long time.
On Monday evening, the following went to Yoder to have supper together at Carriage Crossing restaurant: Kenneth and Linda Thiessen of Doland, S.D., Dwight Jantz, Geneve Pryce, Palmer and Lucille Base, Dale Thiessen and son, Delbert and Marge Thiessen, and Eric and Geraldine Johnson.
