County gets rain

Ken and Sandy Wiebe and Dale and Kathy Jantz and Ruthann were Sunday dinner guests of Mitch and Carol Unruh in Durham.

Wendell and Linda Wedel attended the Sunday morning wedding of a cousin, Raquel Koehn, and Evan Becker at the Lone Tree Church near Moundridge. In the afternoon they went to the funeral services for Tammy McDermed, 33, at Garden View Church near Moundridge.

On Friday, Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went to Montezuma to visit her parents the Claude Unruhs at the Bethel Home. For dinner, the Unruhs, Wiebes and Anita Schmidt went to eat dinner at a restaurant in Copeland. Anita's husband, Ken, was busy with farm work as they didn't have rain there. The Claude Unruhs are doing quite well and enjoyed the visitors and being able to go out a little.

On Friday evening, Orville and Delores Richert went to Lindsborg to watch their granddaughter, Kathy Jenson, play softball.

Harry and Sheryle Rhodes had as their Sunday dinner guests the Calvin Wiebe family and Kelly Nightingale of Galva.

The Larry Koehn family went to visit at the home of Wayne and Loralee Wiebe Friday evening.

Travis and Sharon Koehn invited Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe, and Stuart and Lea Isaac and family to be their Sunday dinner guests.

Lisa Redger took her nieces and nephews, the children of the Mark Wiebes, to visit the grandparents, Hank and Sharon Redger, at Montezuma. They left on Saturday and returned home Sunday evening.

Guests of Harry and Lela Wedel Sunday were Henry and Laverna Redger, David and Chris Redger and family and Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family.

Sunday afternoon visitors of Marcella Unruh were Molly Schroeder and Elmer and Ann Bartel.

The Mark Unruh family and Warren Unruh family attended the elementary school carnival at Robert C. Brown Gymnasium. It was an enjoyable evening for children and families.

Quite a bit of rain was received in the area Thursday night and Saturday afternoon after a dry winter. Reports were from somewhat over four inches to two inches. The ponds filled, and the crops will grow. The rain was very welcome.
