Crouse earns Eagle Scout rank
Hillsboro High School senior Jonathan Richard Crouse, a member of Boy Scout Troop 129, chartered by Hillsboro American Legion Post 366, has been awarded the Eagle Scout rank by the Boy Scouts of America.
Out of every 100 boys who join a troop, only four of them reach this pinnacle of scouting.
Crouse will be recognized for his outstanding achievement at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, in McPherson.
His Eagle Scout project was the construction of a handbell cabinet at Trinity Lutheran, where he and his family attend; and he is a member of the handbell choir.
In addition, Crouse is president of the church's senior high youth group and a member of the church council.
Crouse, who joined Troop 129 in 2000, has made many camping trips and participated in several service projects. He also was a member of the National Junior Youth Leadership Program, serving as Senior Patrol Leader for the program.
At Hillsboro High, Crouse played football for two years, and has been a four-year member of the concert and jazz bands. He also is a member of the school's Technology Students Association.
Crouse is the son of David and Beth Crouse of Lehigh, and the grandson of Richard and Marilyn Riemer of Hillsboro.
