Deirdre Hawkins

Deirdre Ruth Hawkins was born in Wichita, Kansas, on September 22, 1948, to Dr. Mahlon Albert and Virginia Maxine "Deena" (Stuever) Hawkins. She passed away Sunday, August 17, 2003.

Deirdre married Robert G. Critser in Lake Tahoe, California, and became stepmother to Kelly, Robert, and John Critser, who survive her.

Deirdre and Robert would have celebrated 22 years together on August 22 of this year. In 1995, after retiring from PPG, Deirdre and Robert left California.

They returned to Kansas to care for her parents and took up residence outside Hillsboro until Mahlon and Deena passed away.

In 1999 Gold Hill, Oregon, became home with her "babies," two Yorkshire terriers, Nicki and Heide. Deirdre loved animals and was devoted to keeping them young and healthy.

An artist, expert seamstress, horticulturist and craftswoman, she kept her house pristine and homey.

She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 28, of Grants Pass, Oregon.

This summer she and Robert lived briefly in Lynnwood, Washington, where she died.

Deirdre is also survived by two grandchildren from Scott and Kelly Pelland; four sisters, Michon, Jill, Cheryl, and Kellene Hawkins; and two brothers, Kell and Rick Hawkins.

A rosary will be said for Deirdre in Medford, Ore.

Services will be Sept. 15, 2003, at Eagle Point National Cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point, Oregon.

Please make donations to American Legion Auxiliary Post 28, 206 NW F Street, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526, who will be officiating the services.

Cards and condolences may be sent to Robert G. Critser, P.O. Box 173, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97528.
