Donations roll in for family in need
A local family was in need, and Hillsboro responded.
An assistance fund started for the family of Johan Reimer has seen more than $1,000 in donations come in, according to Stephen Humber, a member of the Hillsboro Area Ministerial Association.
Reimer was involved in a car accident in northern Butler County last month. In that accident, Reimer broke both ankles, which prevents him from returning to his job at the Klassen Dairy.
Johan and his wife, Elizabeth, have five children — three of whom attend school at Hillsboro Elementary.
Reimer's brother, Jacob, was killed in the accident.
In addition to being out of work while his injuries heal, Johan Reimer also faced a lack of a car, since his minivan was totaled in the wreck when it struck a bridge. Reimer has since been able to purchase a used car, Humber said.
Donations have been coming in almost daily to the fund, which was set up at the Hillsboro State Bank.
Donations are still being accepted at the bank. For more information, contact Humber at Parkview MB Church at 947-2338.
