Doris Franzen

Doris Franzen, 74, of rural Canton, died Jan. 7, 2003, at Newton Medical Center in Newton.

Born June 11, 1928, at Kansas City, she was the daughter of David H. and Ariel Vera (Trapp) Darling, Sr.

On Aug. 30, 1958, in Hutchinson, she married Eugene Franzen.

She was a homemaker and a nurse's aide. She worked at Grace Hospital in Hutchinson. She was a member of Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.

After marriage, the couple moved to a farm in rural Canton. She worked at Bethesda Home in Goessel for 40 years.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband of the home; sons, Dean Franzen of rural Canton and Rodney Franzen of rural Hillsboro; daughter, Brenda Franzen of rural Canton; brothers, David H. Darling, Jr. and L.G. Darling, both of Hutchinson; sister, Darlene Bartholomew of South Bend, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church near Goessel with Revs. James Dunn and Mark Wiens officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Goessel. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials have been established with Gideons Bible Society, St. Jude's Hospital, and Bethesda Home.
