Dorothy Dannenfelser
Dorothy Elizabeth (Stovall) Dannenfelser, 90, Florence, died June 19, 2002.
She was born Dec. 3, 1911, at Florence, the daughter of Fred and Jessie (Robinson) Stovall.
She was a granddaughter to well-known early day residents O.B. Stovall and R.W. Robinson.
Her entire life was spent in the Florence community.
She attended Fairplay School, west of Florence, and graduated from Florence Memorial High School in the class of 1930.
Her membership at Florence Christian Church began in 1924.
She and Charles Noel Dannenfelser were married June 26, 1934, at Newton. He is deceased.
She enjoyed collecting antiques and painting. She also held Florence history close to her heart and was a founding member of Florence Historical Society. She was active in that organization for many years. She played the part of a Harvey Girl in productions and was proud to prepare and present food.
She also was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Her mother, father, and husband preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Charles Dannenfelser and his wife Donna, Marion County Lake; three grandchildren, Bret Dannenfelser of Overland Park, Dr. Brian Dannenfelser of Kingwood, Texas, and Jill Jirak of Hillsboro; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday morning at Florence Christian Church with Pastors Harold Brown and Larry Timm officiating. Cheryl Doty was the vocal soloist and Dolly Soyez the organist.
Casket bearers were Bret Dannenfelser, Dr. Brian Dannenfelser, Tim Jirak, Jason Chard, Aaron Chard, and Shawn Braun. Honorary bearers were Claire Robinson, Bill Robinson, Ed Robinson, Bob Mercer, Ron Mercer, and Rich Mercer.
Memorial funds have been established at the church and Florence Historical Society.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.
