Dr. Jonah Kliewer
Dr. Jonah C. Kliewer, 75, Hillsboro, died July 12, 2008.
Born May 8, 1933, at Isabella, Okla., he was the son of J.C. and Mary (Thomas) Kliewer.
He was a professor of music at Tabor College.
On June 24, 1955, he married Elinor Ewert at Reedley, Calif.
He was a member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elinor of Hillsboro; three sons, Jan Kliewer of Powell, Wyo., Kenneth Kliewer of Hillsboro, and David Kliewer of Newton; daughter, Joan Kennedy of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers, Vernon Kliewer of Newton and Steve Kliewer of Isabella, Okla.; sister, Mary Elinor Gade of Reedley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Dave Plett officiating.
A Jonah Kliewer Scholarship Fund for the music department at Tabor College has been established.
