Drug business busted by sheriff's deputy

Two men were arrested Sunday by Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez following a traffic stop.

Soyez stopped the eastbound vehicle on U.S.-56 near Hillsboro. After a brief, roadside investigation, Soyez found personal-use marijuana, believed to be driver's, in the car's console. The driver also was in possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the traffic stop, Soyez found a grey duffel bag on the floor board on the passenger side of the vehicle. The search of the bag revealed a quarter pound of marijuana that was pre-packaged in quarter-ounce bags, marked for sale. The marijuana was en route to Lawrence from Hutchinson.

Alexander J. Law was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Patrick P. Watt was arrested for possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two other male occupants in the vehicle were not charged in the incident.
