Durham: Families honor mothers

Mothers were honored in many ways on their special day on Sunday.
Merle and Pam Hartman were Saturday breakfast guests of Palmer and Lucille Base.
On Saturday, many people went to Montezuma to spend the day at Richard and Starla Harms in honor of Mother's Day. Those going were the Larry Koehn family, Mitch and Carol Unruh, the Quinton Unruh family of Canton, Warren Unruh family of Lehigh, Dayton and Martha Unruh and Carol, and Keith and Marietta Yost of Nebraska.
Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan, and Kyle hosted a fish fry supper for their mothers at their home Sunday evening. Guests were Vi Klassen, Jerry Dalke, Damian and Amy Ratzlaff and family, Ron and Dora Unruh, Jim and Brenda Enns, Lisa, and Darren, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin, and Sarah.
Greg and Charlene Wedel invited Wendell and Linda Wedel, Amanda Wedel, and Roy and Nadine Davis, LaVae and Eileen to be their Mother's Day dinner guests.
Sunday evening, the wedding reception of Donovan Wedel to Clara Peachy from Pennsylvania was held at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Moundridge. Attending were Harry and Sheryle Rhodes, Darrel and Donita Rhodes, Darrin and Meri Kay Rhodes, Mike and Michelene Rhodes and the Larry Koehn family. Donovan is a grandson of the late Dale Rhodes.
The Larry Koehn children took their mother, Wanda, out for dinner Sunday at the La Fiesta restaurant in Abilene.
The Harry Wedel family got together Sunday in honor of their mother Lela at the home of Merlin and Karletta Wiebe. The children were all there with only a few grandchildren missing.
On May 6, the birthdays of Alexander and Matthias Thayer were honored at the home of Palmer and Lucille Base with cake and ice cream. Guests were the honorees, Richard and Ruth Thayer, Paula and Maggie, and Thad and Edna Thayer, Jamie, and Samuel.
Lola Redger went to Newton Sunday and met her children, Ray Redger, Kyle and Teresa and Lisa Redger who then took her out to dinner at a restaurant.
Ken and Sandy Wiebe had Doyle and Kara Wiebe and family, Helen Wiebe, Wayne and Loralee Wiebe, and Katrina Friesen as their Sunday dinner guests. Katrina is a niece of Ken and Sandy's and teaches at Fredonia.
