Durham locals celebrate Easter

Durham correspondent

Many folks were able to celebrate the wonderful Easter holiday in different ways. Some attended worship services and sunrise services. Then there were programs and family gatherings. The weather was spring like too, so it was a good weekend.

On Tuesday evening, the Morning Star youth presented an inspirational Easter program at the community center in Durham. There were readings, poems, group singing, and men's quartet, trios, etc. It was very much appreciated.

On March 24, Brad and Joyce Dirks hosted a pre-Easter gathering of the Dirks families. Guests were Melvin and Vera Dirks, Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and family, Howard and Charlene Becker and family, Chris and Jodi Ratzlaff and family of Galva, and Ty and Karmita Johnson and family.

Having Sunday dinner in the Ron Unruh home Easter Sunday were Jim and Brenda Enns and Darren, Lon and Deb Hiebert and Matthew, Mark and Barb Unruh, Katelin and Sarah, Warren and Anita Unruh, Nathan and Kyle, Lisa Enns of Hesston College, and David Enns and Ashley Claassen of Wichita. In the afternoon, everyone enjoyed an Easter egg hunt together. Later, the March birthdays of Lon, Katelin, and Sarah were celebrated and cake and ice cream were served. Lon and Deb and Matthew were also overnight guests Saturday, since the Unruh men, Ron, Jim, Lon, Mark, and Warren, had gotten together for a work day on our farm.

The Brad Dirks family had Sunday dinner with Joyce's parents, the Vernon Beckers of Canton.

Mark and Kris Wiebe and family were Sunday dinner guests in the home of Glen and Bonnie Ensz of Hillsboro. Lisa Redger of Montezuma, Kris' sister, was also a guest, as she is helping out in the Ensz home due to the illness of Bonnie.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks invited Jerald and Rhonda Koehn and family, John and Ethel Steiner and Randall, Melvin and Vera Dirks, and Dave and Chris Redger and family to be their Sunday dinner guests.
