Elizabeth M. Vinduska, 87, died Feb. 10, 2004, at St. Luke Hospital.
Born Dec. 19, 1916, on the family farm near Pilsen, she was the daughter of Jacob and Josephine (Stika) Klenda.
She excelled in school and graduated as valedictorian of her senior class at Marion High School. She was on the debate team with Father Emil Kapaun and won many contests.
On Nov. 20, 1939, she married Mike Vinduska. The couple had six children. He died in 1999.
She was a devoted member of St. John Nep. Catholic Church and a life-long member of St. Anne's Altar Society.
Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and going to dances. She also developed an expertise in the stock market and was the family financier.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Vinduska of Lincolnville and John Vinduska of Marion; four daughters, Nancy Kraft and Marian Guapo of Wichita, Carol Wituk of Marion, and Elaine Ledford of Centennial, Colo.; a brother, Martin Klenda of Pilsen; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited Friday evening at St. John Nep. Catholic Church, Pilsen, with Father Steve Gronert as the leader.
Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday morning at the church with Father Steve Gronert officiating.
Jeannie Vinduska was the lector and Marian Guapo read a eulogy written by John Vinduska.
Casket bearers were Mike Kraft, Jason Wituk, Scott Wituk, Eric Vinduska, Br. Aaron Vinduska, and Ed Klenda.
Charlene Svitak was organist. Mary Griffith and the St. John Nep. Choir were vocalists.
Gift bearers were Miranda Ledford and Malinda Guapo. Ushers were Ron and Gail Makovec. Terry Vinduska was Eucharistic minister.
Burial was in the church cemetery at Pilsen.
A memorial fund has been established in her name in care of Zeiner Funeral Home.
