Elmer Weyand

Elmer Weyand, 74, of Newton, died Sept. 3, 2007.

Born April 2, 1933, at Galva, he was the son of Herbert and Bertha (Ollek) Weyand.

On June 13, 1953, he married Erletta Willems at Rose Pine, La.

He worked at Boeing in Wichita and later as a maintenance technician at Axtell Hospital, Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard Weyand.

Survivors include his wife, Erletta of Newton; three daughters, Marilyn Lubbers of Leavenworth, Gerry Epp of Newton, and Shirley Esau of Walton; brother, Gerald Weyand of Norton; two sisters, Lenora Martens and Lorene Holloway, both of McPherson; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday morning at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, with the Rev. Dean VonStroh officiating. Burial was in Restlawn Garden of Memories, Newton.

Memorial funds were established with the American Diabetes Association or City of Newton EMS.
