Elva Jantz
Elva Jantz, 96, of Hesston, died June 3, 2004, at Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
Born Feb. 17, 1908, at Pawnee County, she was the daughter of August and Matilda (Schultz) Unruh.
She graduated from Pawnee Rock High School, attended Fort Hays University, and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College. She taught school for 26 years.
In 1929 at Pawnee Rock, she married Edwin Jantz. He is deceased.
After marriage, she lived in Scott City for several years and then on a farm in Marion County for 60 years before moving to Hesston in 1997.
She was a member of the Roxbury United Parish Church.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; one sister and one brother.
Survivors include son, George Jantz of Haysville; daughter, Garnet Ormsby of Newcastle, Wash.; sister, Navin Fraser of Augusta, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Gladys Jantz of Hillsboro and Elma and her husband Edwin Funk of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday at the Roxbury United Parish Church. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery near Roxbury.
Memorials have been established with Intergenerational Child Development Center, Roxbury United Parish, and Central Homecare and Hospital.
