Emma Jean Herbel

Emma Jean Herbel, 72, of Hillsboro, died June 23, 2006, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

Born Jan. 20, 1934, at Magee, Miss., she was the daughter of Virgil and Vontice (Harvey) Turner.

She was a train order clerk.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; and son, Alex.

Survivors include two sons, David Herbel of Marietta, Okla., and Glen Herbel of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; three daughters, Dr. Gayla Jean Herbel of Loveland, Colo., Barbra Ann Harris of Marietta, Okla., and Greta Louise Slade of Aurora, Colo.; brother, Andrew Turner of Mississippi; two sisters, Genie Bell Graham of Topeka and Patricia Robertson of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, with Pastor Brett Huebner officiating.

Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hillsboro.

A memorial fund has been established with Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.
